How Hast Thou Hurt Us? Let Me Count the Ways

It's been a struggle. I've wanted to blog about Trump, but it's hard.  My computer and I do not get along very well. One momentary lapse in attention, and I send the cursor in the middle of some random word or erase most of what I've typed.  I recently spend more than an hour composing a letter to my local newspaper editor, revising it until I felt like I was able to express my opinion using the limited number of words allowed.  And then I accidentally erased most of it.  I gave up. And I'm telling you now that you might see misspellings and grammar errors.  There's only so much torture I'm willing to go through to express myself.

The second issue I have is that I find it hard to focus my comments because there are so many topics that I want to cover.  Trump is a dangerous man in so many ways.  His deficiencies overlap at any given time, and I find it difficult to tease them out to coherently express my concerns.
So I have decided to begin by making a list of the things that alarm me.  I expect I'll add to my list as I go along.  I'm presenting my list in no particular order, and without fine-tuning.  Otherwise, I'd never finish!
  • His lack of empathy.  No compassion.  None.
  • He likes to hurt people.  Actually enjoys it.
  • His need for adoration.  More than compliments.  He needs worship.
  • He lies.  All the time.
  • His refusal (or inability) to accept anything that does not fit in his world view.
  • His world view is disordered.
    • It is self-centered.
    • It is simplistic
    • It is xenophobic.
  • He believes that his gut feelings are worth more than expertise.
  • He attacks everyone who dares to question him.
  • Acts like he has endured more and accomplished more than any human being in the history of the world.
  • He is very angry and short-tempered.
  • He does not care about people.  He cares about image, money and possessions, and adoration.
He claims that he is a war-time president, and he is.  Here's an example of how he's doing.  On a conference call with governors, he
  • told them to find their own weapons and ammunition to fight the war.
  • outbid them for ammunition.
  • laughed about it.
  • left them guessing about enemy strength.
  • was disinterested and bored when they spoke.
He couldn't do much worse than he is doing.

What I don't understand is why.  Does he have some grand diabolical game plan at work?  Or is he just this incompetent?  Because either reason is beyond my comprehension.
